Biopuncture

What is Biopuncture?

Biopuncture is a new technique in natural medicine consisting of injecting biological products (like homeopathic remedies) on specific spots. Biopuncture originated from combining the use of bio-therapeutics [bio-] with acupuncture [-puncture]. Most of these injections are given under the skin or in the muscles.

Biopuncture:
This is a relatively recent discipline in complementary medicine and entails injecting homeopathic products eg. traumeel, lymphomyosot or spascupreel subcutaneously into trigger points as opposed to the use of non steroidal anti-inflammatories and in some instances cortisone in conventional medicine.

Dr Pakula administers injections on carefully chosen spots to balance the body. You may receive subcutaneous Biopuncture in your neck for whiplash, on your chest for bronchitis, on your abdomen for gastro-enteritis, in your knee for joint pain, and so on. Local injections can also be given to stimulate the local blood circulation which can be very effective in the treatment of sports injuries.

How is it administered?

Biopuncture injections can not be compared with the ‘usual’ injections given in conventional medicine. They are not as painful as a ‘normal’ injection because the needle used is very fine and the quantity injected is very small. Indeed, they look more like little pinpricks. Most of them are given into or just under the skin, others are given into specific muscle points. Injections into and around joints are also common.

Since the products used in Biopuncture are not as ‘strong’ as the allopathic medication, they are not as effective in the short term. This means that you may have to do 3 or more sessions before you get any result. Your natural medicine practitioner tries to work on a deeper level by encouraging the body’s own defense mechanism to make the necessary repairs without causing side effects.

What conditions are treated by Biopuncture?

Biopuncture can not heal all your medical problems. This is not a miracle therapy. The majority of patients choose to be treated with Biopuncture because they are in pain and do not support the use of allopathic painkillers. It is important to realize that Biopuncture can not ‘take away’ the pain as with a traditional medication. We regard pain as an important ‘signal’ from your body that something is going wrong. This means that if we can alleviate the pain without prescribing painkillers, we have a good reason to conclude that we have taken away the deeper cause of that particular pain. If your pain is recent, it may be treated in two or three sessions. If the pain has been there for months or years, it may take 10 or 20 sessions.

  • Lower back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Frozen shoulder
  • Knee pain
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Ankle sprains
  • Tennis elbow
  • Joint pain
  • Arthritis
  • Muscle strain and tears
  • Hip Pain
  • Rotator cuff injury

However, Biopuncture is not just used for pain problems. An area that is interesting to mention is the treatment of allergies and inflammations. For example, one can treat asthma, eczema and hay fever. And even patients with arthritis, bronchitis, cystitis and sinusitis can be treated with this technique. Biopuncture is also used to treat migraine, osteo-arthritis, tension headache, Crohn’s disease, colitis, vertigo, Meniere’s disease, Cluster headache, neuralgia, and so on.

The use of homeopathic injections is interesting for those patients who have tried allopathic medicine but have had no success, or for those who have had to stop the allopathic medication because of side effects. It is an interesting healing technique for those patients who want to avoid an operation (for example for sciatica or sinusitis). In some patients it may be advantageous to combine the allopathic approach together with Biopuncture. Many people still believe that one has to stop allopathic treatments when choosing natural medicine. This is not true. When you are treated with Biopuncture, you just continue the medication you were already taking. In case of doubt, always contact your medical doctor first for professional advice. Each case should be taken into account individually, of course.
