Treated Conditions / Musculoskeletal / Neck Pain

Pain in or around the neck is fairly common when it comes to medical conditions. Another name for this is cervical pain and it can be quite serious. A lot of times it might not seem like the neck pain is a big deal until it gets progressively worse.

Some of the common pains are neck strains or whiplash but it can also be a pinched nerve or something wrong with the disc itself.

No neck pain should go undiagnosed, you need to get to get a diagnosis and treatment as soon as you can.

Whiplash or Whiplash Associated Disorder (WAD) – a “whiplash” is the term that describes the sudden forward and backward movement of the head and neck most commonly occurring during a motor vehicle accident. It can also occur during a variety of other activities such as recreational and competitive sports. Note that a whiplash could also occur with a rapid side-to-side movement as well.

WADs are estimated to cost consumers and the insurance industry billions of dollars each year. With a WAD there can be soft tissue injury, bone fracture, and nerve damage. Because of the considerable number of structures (bone, spinal cord, brain, ligament, intervertebral disc, muscle, joint capsule, and tendon) involved, recover can take months or years.

However, most cases of whiplash resolve with acupuncture, laser therapy, Manual therapy, Homeopathy injection (Biopuncture) in a couple months or less.

Acupuncture plays an important role in the elimination of pain, and gives us a valuable alternative choice for the treatment of acute and chronic Neck pain conditions.

Acupuncture to be effective in relieving certain types of neck particularly those caused by whiplash. Some studies suggest acupuncture can treat degenerative neck disorders such as ankylosing spondylosis and cervical spondylosis; in many cases, acupuncture has worked for patients whose conditions could not be solved using conventional approaches.

Pain, Acupressure and herbal medicine are sometimes used in conjunction with acupuncture for neck pain. Applying acupressure to the neck muscles can reduce spasm and lessen pain, leading to a relaxed state and a heightened sense of well-being. Depending on the patient’s condition, certain herbal products can be used to improve circulation and blood flow and ease muscle contraction.
